Square silk scarves

I was clearing out my mothers house and came across a bag of those old fashioned square silk scarves that she used to fold into a triangle and wear over her hair or around her neck. They were so pretty that I have decided to keep them, but it has made me think that I can't remember the last time I saw someone wearing one.
I wouldn't wear one on my head tbh, but I do think they look quite nice around the neck and tucked into a coat.
Do you or anyone you know still wear these? Would you think it very old fashioned to see someone with one nowadays?

Tied round your neck over a plain shirt or blouse or jumper = pure chic

Where have you been. They are everywhere. I have several and they can really brighten up an outfit.

They're still very popular! Worn around the head or neck, or wrapped around a bun or tied to a handbag.

Lucky you:) I would wear it on my head bandanna style, tight around my neck or attached to a bag, I like the idea of around a bun, especiattly in the summer:)

    Good luck for the future
  • I like the idea of tying them round a bag and wearing them in my hair. I got some ones from Saudi which the local woman wore to cover their hair but I intend on wearing them with a blazer and a plain white vest , skinny jeans, heels and an over size handbag. I use one over my hair at night to protect it from breakage (thank god im single lol, I look like a land girl at bed time!) and I use one over my face when im not wanting to get makeup on a top as I pull it over my head. They had loads of imitation ones in Primark the other day, they must be coming back in. My Nan is in her ninties and wears them over her hair, my Mum is her her sixties and wears them round her neck and im in my twenties and wear them everywhere lol!

My daughter in law has loads of these in plain colours, doesnt wear then but my two girlie grandchildren have major fun with them.

Blue ones for the sea, yellow and orange for the sand, Orange for the sun on the horizon, dancing and floaty things, they spend hours playing and using their imagination.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • I remember these from the late 60's . In Newcastle girls would fold the square into a triangle , tie two ends then turn scarf around so that the front of a v neck coat was filled with the scarf. It was very fashionable back in the day ! Lots of lovely colours . I'll keep a lookout for them now !
