Lloyds Credit Card PPI Query

How long do LTSB keep records of PPI policies? I'm about to put in a claim for PPI on a credit card I've had since 2000. I know I was told I had to take it to have the cc approved but won't it just be my word agains theirs?
I know I didn't need it as I get (and got then) full 6 months sick pay, 6 months on half pay and no threat of redunancy. At all. Even now my organisation is recruiting! Had life assurance and critical illness cover too.
And I see that LTSB seem to be settling a lot at the moment. Are they knocking any claims back?
