Barclaycard: Time taken to clear funds?

Thought I'd gte rid of my bill for this month so rung Barclaycard up to pay the bill on debit card. But can only pay 100 max. I owe 5000. So the other alternative is to go into Barclays and pay it in there.
Did that on the 13th nice and early as the bills not due to the 19th. cause it takes 3 days to clear.

So i log on today to see if its cleared and its in the 4999.95 pending with balance of 5p to spend...

rung them up and they said that payments not going to clear to the 22nd of the month and sometimes these take 10 days to clear..well in the past its never taken that long...Anyone else had this kind of trouble..

that means ill be paying a full months interest on 5000 k balance rather than a 0 balnace...if it clears on the 22nd.....due date of bill is the 19th

How did you pay? Cheque? Cash?

If it was cash I would expect them to say it is the normal 5 working days to clear which would take you to the 20th. If it is a cheque then cheques can take longer to clear.

Cash 4999.95 its on the account online as pending. so the balnace is 0..but i have 5p to spend. Its a 5000 limit card. 5 days ..? Long time..its not easy to pay them there money back it seems. Its like they dont want it back. or they just want u to continue to pay there interest each month and minimum payments.

There is a whole host of reasons why it takes so long from counter money laundering checks which must be made to systems being fairly old but exceptionally high risk to update/ modernise in anything but small steps

Be careful it doesn't take you over your limit if they add interest on top. If you pay the bill in cash it should clear instantly shouldn't it? 3 working days at the most.

It sounds like they are following the procedure for a large payment authority, Basically they can see that you have paid, and they apply it to the account, but allow extra time in their system for it to clear in case the bank request the amount back(which can happen).
You shouldn't have a problem with getting charged interest though, as you have done everything in your power to get the payment to them, following their timeframes and procedures, so they have received it and should honour the payment, with no interest to be charged.
