Credit rating has plumetted. Lowell constantly accessing my credit report

  • 3 have to prove that there is a debt. Putting the debt in dispute with 3 puts the ball back into their court. Once in their court all recovery action has to cease until they can prove the debt exists. You have never had a contract with Lowells so arguing with them is pointless.... they just want their fee.

Lowells just see file from 3 stating debt that is their reality. 3 is the originator of that file and only by fighting 3 will that file be amended.

Do not deal with Lowells or 3 except by letter, inform both that that is the only acceptable form of communication and go after 3 as your alleged debt is with them not Lowells n matter what Lowells tell you.
  • OK, thank you. I received another letter from Lowell today, the second one this week. I am going to write to them that I have contacted 3mobile direct and then do that. Hopefully I will get some useful information from them.
  • Quick update, I asked both 3 and Lowell for the information. All accounts have now been put on hold until they can provide it for me. Both got pretty snitty about it but I have stuck to my guns. Thank you for all you help on this.

Merely searching your Credit File does not show up to anyone else so it cannot affect your 'rating' ony a default or late payment can.

I thought it showed up as a 'foot print' on your credit report. Merely showing you who has accessed it. I agree with the credit rating point though - I can't see this affecting how the credit reference agency rate you, however it has been said a potential lender will look at the foot print in order to assess whether they think you may potentially be looking to borrow more than you can afford. For example, if 5 credit card companies accessed your report, they may not want to be potentially a sixth company to offer you more money
  • I had assumed it had dropped because they had accessed it, nothing else had changed and it went from fair to poor. I have had other searches on it but only for car insurance quotes.

There are 2 types of searches, the type you get when you apply for credit and the type you get when a debt collector is looking for you. The latter does not affect you much.

How do I know who has seen information about me?
When an organisation checks or searches your information on our database, a record, or ‘footprint’,
of this is kept. These records show who has seen your personal information, why and when,
and are kept on record for one year.
We keep records of searches for your information and to help lenders process credit applications.
They also help prevent fraud. Unrecorded enquiries show you that an organisation has looked at your
report for a purpose not related to credit (such as checking your identity), but that fact will not be
    revealed to other lenders.

    What is an unrecorded enquiry?
An unrecorded enquiry is a search that was not made for lending purposes. It is not seen by lenders
other than the one that carried out the search. It is included on your credit report so you know the
    search was made.
