Anyone give me a bit of advice please?
I parked my car on a multi-occupancy retail park this morning, went to one shop I wanted to look in - which was closed, even though it was past normal opening.
I then walked off the site around town for about half an hour, went back to the retail park, walked around the shops for a while, making purchases at two outlets. .
On returning to my car, I found a ticket attached to my windscreen timed at arrival plus 15 minutes with the narrative "had reasonable cause to believe that the following parking contravention had occurred - Left Premises" The ticket was issued by a company called CMS UK Ltd
The "fine" is £55 or £90 if not paid within 28 days.
I did leave the retail park for about 40 minutes, I can't dispute that.
Is this enforcable please? Anyone had any "dealings" with CMS?
Any advice gratefully accepted.
Many thanks.

Just ignore them. Save all the letters you get, as well as any more invoices, threats etc. We do not have this mob in the ""letters"" sticky and it would be nice to add them to the list.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Never had dealings with them, but it's safe to ignore everything they send you. Do not contact them at all. In any case, it sounds like a free car park, in which case their loss is precisely £0, meaning you owe them nothing.
You now have 2 steps to take:
1. Make a tea or coffee (your choice) :-)
2. Drink it while having a look at the top sticky for the sort of empty threats you can expect.0 -
Not enforceable in any way, shape or form. Do not waste time appealing as that will let them know they have hooked a mug. Ignore every single letter that you will receive from them and whatever cronies they get to write to you. It is a scam pure and simple, so do not play along with it in any way.
If they get no response then after a variable period of time they will simply drop it and give up.
They cannot take any legal action against you if you ignore them (though they WILL issue empty threats to do so) since any action would have to be against the driver of the car, not the registered keeper.
Having received this advice, to cover yourself though I would suggest you now edit out all time/place details from your post. The w*nkers do sometimes trawl these pages.0 -
Really grateful for your replies everyone, much appreciated.
I am just drinking that cup of tea Althehibby!!0 -
dont give it another thought you have not been,,fined,, you have been merely asked to pay an unenforceable invoice,, you now have 3 choices,,,,1)pay 2) pay me £1000-00 for this information or 3)enjoy your tea and relax,,,,so its feet up then and a cuppa,,,incidentally totally ignore all threat o grams you recieve in the post do not contact in any way shape or form nothing absolutely nothing can/will be done to you despite their threats,,all that happens is the red ink on the letters gets bigger,,,wow, dead scary (not).0
