New rash of phishing & phoney helpdesk calls

Them pesky scammers are at it again...

I've had 3 calls from people with unlikely names and foreign accents in the past few days telling me that my computer has problems.

Today the person told me that my computer was downloading junk and malicious products. I'm fed up of them and I replied that actually I was receiving a junk and malicious phone call and that he was a s***head and he could f*** off.

I seem to be getting a stream of phishing emails urging me to login to my bank and check my account.

I checked out the web site that one was hosted at and contacted the owner to say they had been compromised. The very nice lady had a go at her service provider, who told her they had been hacked (from the US).

I've had emails from beneficiaries all over Africa who have a selection of fortunes that they would like me to help them spend.

I went to install an update to a piece of software I use regularly, and the installer defaulted to installing the babylon search tool, which is pure unadulterated malware that messes up your PC.

I posted a complaint on the suppliers forum, and received the response that I was being childish.

I've also had a couple of calls about some shares that have apparently gone up from worthless to a fortune.

As I've said before , both here and in other forums , simply install an answering machine!

All the scammers and sales people will soon fade away ...

Coincidentally, I've just had a nice gentleman from the Indian sub-continent on the phone telling me I had a problem with my PC (again)

Being short of time I said that he was trying to con me, and of course he denied this.

So I said that it would save time if I right clicked on "my computer" and opened up the System event viewer or perhaps the Application event viewer and look at all the pretty yellow triangles.
I then asked if there is an application he would like me to run, because I won't.

    He rang off

    Dave, feeling smug.

Is that the rude American lady who always speaks over the outgoing answer-phone message?:rotfl:

I won't be on here for a while as I've won a cruise! Apparently. :j

Is there an irony filter on my posts?

Note the 'apparently' after my cruise post.
Hint: answer phone recordings telling me I've won all sorts.:)

    Yeah,dcm, I never go outside.
How I've managed this whilst spending my whole life working in agriculture and construction..........:)
