Removing other users

Hi when i bought this PC about 3 years ago i naturally just put my other half and kids(2) onto it as users.I want to delete a file but can't because it says it's being used by another user(it could be them or someone uploading it from the web as it's a game file) so if i remove the other users because they don't use it anyway(just log in under my name if they need to use it) will it affect the game files etc etc etc that's under my name. They have some of the same files/games that i have installed under my name as i must have let them, for some, install it for other users. As they were all installed under my name they won't be deleted or anything will they if i remove all the other users?
It will make it easier too as i won't have to keep clicking on my name when i load up in the morning:rolleyes:
Thanks

If they don't use other user names, how can another user have it locked? A reboot should release any file that's locked by a user so maybe there's a file corruption, have you tried defrag and scandisk?
I might be generalising here but most of my games store their save data in a common place by default so I have been able to continue from any logon, so deleting a user shouldn't effect them.0 -
Not always the case. Ive come across many games (FEAR, Warhammer 40K) that store the game saves in the My Documents folder of the User in particular.
If they play the game from your User account - youll be fine
If they play the game from their own account - youll need to check."Getting Married" - The act of betting half of everything you own on the fact you will love someone forever :rotfl:0 -
Well with the sims2 if i play on another acoount on same pc the game is there but none of your families are saved0

Yes Penguin is correct as i play Football manager and that saves the saved game to my documents though this isn't the game in question.
So i should be able to remove the other users as they don't use it anyway because everything that has been installed on this PC from games to adaware/AVG etc etc has been installed under my username?
Thanks for the replies aswell:)Darren0 -

You can setup Windows XP to automatically log in whilst keeping the other accounts.0
