ex has called CSA got a phonecall today...

hi, will keep this brief.
Split with the ex a year ago , baby is now 1.
I did a mutual agreement where i paid her £20 everyweek. this was fine. now she decides she wants more and today csa rang me and asked for my work details how much i get paid ect.

i have paid the £20 via bank so have record of payment and also i have paid her up to the end of march this year with a payment of £300, now csa say her claim date is a few days ago.

after tax i get £260 per week, csa said that would be roughly £40 but i also do overtime and i get £350 per week when its avaialbe and CSA said they take this into account, more money for her.

i had to move back home as i have just not got the moeny, i have to pay £200 board, £300 for a loan and now this CSA money.
while im at home i can manage, but she has ruined the chances of me renting i cannot afford that.
i guess i cant do much, any advice would be great but i guess the damage has already been done.

£200 for fuel to work and a car and food is going to be tough.

really am down about this.

I understand you are probably angry with your ex. However £1000 a year is not really a lot to pay for your child and it is not the child's fault you have debt.

Options: joint custody; extend the length of your loan to bring the payment down; throw your job in.
    Debt free 4th April 2007.
New house. Bigger mortgage. MFWB after I have my buffer cash in place.

£200 a month is £2400 a year, i have no problems buying the baby food or clothes but she wants the money because she is greedy.
ive been done good and proper here. i cant see how csa can include my overtime when i dont do it everyweekend.

WOuld never quite my job and be like her scrounging off the state.
she may well skint me but im certainly no unemployed "bum".

also i have proof of payments for hundreds of pounds in maintanance that i have put into her account, surely this counts for something.

Anything before their first contact with you is irrelevant - it is before Csa involvement and therefore out of their jurisdiction. Obviously that doesn't help you, but if the situation had been reversed and you HADN'T made any payments then likewise they'd not have been able to force you to pay more.

With regards to overtime, they'll tend to average out your last two months pay, so it will give a fair spread of your overtime. Once they've got your average wage they'll use this for the calculation - if the overtime stops, or your wage used differs from your actual wage then you have to notify them ASAP if you want a reassessment.

Tbh theres nothing you can do. CSA work from 15% of your take home pay. They dont take into account any debts you have, this has nothing to do with your child. If you have your child over night this reduces your payments to her

I assume "throw your job in" was referring to finding an alternative higher paid job opposed to giving up your current job and draining the benefits system?

well she rang csa. opened a case. we have now agreed £30 per week and both called csa and she closed the case (for now until she gets the hunger for more money)
good news is that my overtime is not going towards this now so wont be shelling out over £60 a week. what a JOKE that is, how they can make someone pay £60 pw is a farce. My mate at work today told me that was overkill and he doesnt spend that on his daughter each week.

how csa can ruin people financially is beyond me but no doubt my money grabbing ex will be back trying to get more cash out of me.

£200 odd quid when your living alone would cripple me on my wage so how anybody that does that i feel sorry for them.

In an ideal world id pay for my daughters food, clothes ect all myself and foget the £30 per week but i guess my ex has things to buy for herself.

no doubt this is not the last i will hear of this.

And the CSA in my opinion are corrupt, unfair and should be shutdown with immediate effect.
