Any luck with the builder? Given it was cash basis, was he charging VAT or not? If not you may want to consider the legalities of accepting him on that basis before taking action.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0

I agree with this. If he is under the HMRC radar he wont want anyone putting him on it especially if you can show large (?) cash withdrawals from your account that was used to pay him.
Happy with the builders terms and use his services when suits, then shop him when it doesn't?
Hope he keeps quiet, and you have to pay out of your own pocket.0
