Barclaycard PPI - Can I claim

Hi,

I have a Barclaycard Gold card for approx. 15 years. As far as I can remember I took it out solely on Barclays recommendation as I had already a MasterCard provided by them. I am a complete twit in that I never look at my statements but noticed recently that I have PPI on the gold card but none on the original MasterCard. I am self employed but at the time I originally took out the cards was a permanent employee with a 100% cover in case I was ever ill. I do not have any recollection of anyone selling me PPI. I have no idea where the original paperwork is.

As the original card is over 6 years – do I have reason to claim? I am still paying PPI on the gold card but just noticed that the wordings on the statements has changed in the last couple of years from PPI to Optional PPI payments. Should I keep the PPI in place for the moment whilst dealing with the claim?

I do not have my original paperwork but sporadic statements dating back to 2001. I cant believe that I have been such a mug as my monthly payments in the last few years for PPI are over £60. Also the interest rate has hugely increased in this time – another thing that I didn't spot - 17.9% in 2001 and now its 29.9%.

Any ideas if I have a case and best how to proceed?

Thanks to all in advance

Hi, I up to now have been extemely successful with claiming back PPI from 3 different companies. 2 were paid out straight away, and the FOS were very effective in sorting out the other. I am however awaiting further info from the FOS regarding a claim agaist the Nationwide who are digging their heels in. I am claiming for a loan dating back to 2001. I have some evidence but its gone very quiet? Has anyone successfully claimed against the Nationwide before???
