Halifax Reward Question re Jan/Feb reward

Hi Everyone

Have been doing the cycling thing through 3 accounts (mine, joint and the wifes) for some time with no problems, we havnt been paid the £5 that normally gets paid on the first of the month- I have looked back and can see that we paid £1000 into each of these accounts on the 3rd of Jan. I will call halifax to check tomorrow but wondered if because of bank holidays etc they didnt count the 3rd as being in Jan???
Has anyone else had any issues with January 2012s reward not being pain in Feb?
cheers

  • The 3rd Jan was an ordinary banking day (unless you are in Scotland perhaps) so should count.

My payments into Halifax weren't on that day.

Usual £5s appeared dated 1 February as expected.

I always deposit my 1K towards the end of the month and got both the Jan + Feb rewards.

But 3rd Jan was a normal banking day, so you should have got the reward on 1st Feb.

I did our transfers on 3rd January, got the Rewards OK in February.

(We are in Scotland, but Halifax uses the English BH dates)

Like you, I'm cycling (but through 4 sole accounts) and picking up the Rewards as I go.

However, I always move the money on the day the Rewards are paid...in January it was the 4th (technically on the overnight processing at the end of the first working day which was the 3rd)...

    £1,000 in/£1,005 out
    £1,005 in/£1,010 out
    £1,010 in/£1,015 out
    £1,015 in

Never had a problem, and never will with the current T&C wording.

    Try it?

I generally do ours on the 1st once our pensions arrive, or as soon as I remember. It has to be £1000 paid in in a calendar month, so as long as you stick to that the Reward should be paid. I think it says somewhere it can be as late as the 10th it can be paid.

If it hasn't been paid by now - unlikely it will be without resolving the problem. The 10th I have always taken to be for accounts opened and funded right at the end of the month. For established accounts it's always calculated overnight on the first working day of the month (ie the 1st for Feb)

Do you guys move money in from am external account every month?
This month I moved the money from a alifax savings account and then cycled it through the 3 current accounts, could this be the reason?

No, internal transfers count towards the funding requirement.
  • Ours comes into the Reward joint account from pensions, then goes through our sole accounts and back to the joint account. Previously I used £1000 from a Halifax savings account to go through the sole accounts. Neve had any problem either way.
