Is this a scam?

From my understanding, they asked me to pay cheque into their account, or is it into my account?
They expect me to pay into my account, when it's cashed to forward them the cash minus 10%? Then after a mnth or so the cheque bounces? Is that how they work?
Why ain't google showing anything?
OMG This is terrible, can't believe my blonde brain is even questioning this.. DUH
Yes, it's a scam.
Warning signs here:
- Contacted through Gumtree
- Offered job with no interview
- Offered job without verifying ANY of your details via face to face meeting, phone call or with identifcation documents
- Poor grammar and spelling in each communication. Typical of a bad translation. Probably via a translation programme, rather than a person
- Asking you to cash cheques or handle money. Ask yourself why any legitimate company would need you to do that? They'd need their own bank account, so why would they need you to cash cheques for them?
- Claiming affiliation to Gumtree with no proof to back this claim
Things you can check to verify a company:
- Check website provided. Look for numbers, try calling them (if in UK) and see what kind of response you get
- Ask for their Companies House registration number
- Search Companies House online
- Research the company online
- Contact Gumtree and ask them if there is an affiliation, and if not, they should be aware of this scam being advertised on their site (though I doubt they care)
If you are ever unsure, in the slightest, avoid like the plague!
If any company asks you to handle money like this, particularly those offering money in return for that, is definitely to be avoided. They are most likely out for your money, or worse, trying to use you to launder dirty money.
This does seem like a pretty typical scam attempt to me.February wins: Theatre tickets0 -
