BOS PPI on loan

Please can I have some feedback if anyone has experienced this. I have a loan with the BOS, with a PPI. I was made redundant in Sept2010 and claimed unemployment benefit for 5 months. After that I was ill and had to go on long term illness. The BOS after 6 months paid for my sickness claim but said that as it was spinal related they can only pay for 6months and that was all they were will to pay. I thought about this and all my other insurers i.e. Barclaycard paid me for illness up until the balance was repaid, how was it that this loan that was really expensive could only paid for 6 months. I contacted the BOS and said that I thought that I'd been missold my PPI. After twos I've got a response that they are will to pay me back all my PPI that I've paid in, minus any payments made to me.

What I've been told is that if I accept this that I would no longer be covered by insurance and the loan would be my responsibility to repay. As I'm out of work and already made a claim on the loan I'm sure I wouldn't be able to get insurance to cover me for this loan now. Is it my fault that I was missold the PPI and as I made every effort to ensure that I would be covered for unemployment or illness how can I move forward as if I accept their offer I would be left without any cover. Saying that I was still being debited for the cover even though they said they would no longer cover me for my back. Can I take this any further or do I have to settle and take on the responsibility of having the loan without any cover. I would appreciate any advise if anyone else has experience this. THANK YOU
