Not unless Sainsburys have taken to walking down to the Bank and paying it over the counter!

As 95% of employers - they pay via BACS Direct Credit.

Tell them that you don't recognise the payment and ask them to investigate the source as a possible erroneous credit.

If it's a savings account it could be interest? I know BGC is supposed to be external but it could be mislabelled?

    If it's Halifax post-Sep 2011, it probably is! :(

Yes, that's the error that is found at both Lloyds TSB and at Halifax.

Whilst they label it as BGC, it's actually BACS Direct Credit.

This error has been there since at least Sept 2011 - I can't believe they still haven't corrected it.

    I can.
    It's not the only one.
(They can't always even label their own Interest payments correctly.)

Thanks for clearing that up. I thought it would make a lot more sense for them to use direct credit rather than BGC but I thought the bank would have got it right. :)
