Buying a used car

I've been looking around to buy a used car. One of the dealers I went to today tried to talk me out of paying cash for the full amount but paying a deposit then paying with PCP.
Now I know that means I'll pay more than the listed price but his argument is that the car depreciates more so in theory I lose less paying a monthly amount and using the cash elsewhere than I do by buying outright in cash.
Does anyone have any help or experience in this?

If you can make more investing the money than you pay in interest it makes sense. If you can't, the finance is costing you money.0

This is what he's up to, he's just trying to benefit himself at your expense0
