Unusual Scenario for PPQ - your advice for a newbie appreciated

Hi All

I have read the forum for years and its helped understand a lot of things but I now have a question for the PPI experts amongst you.

In 1997 I wanted to buy a house. The Estate Agents provided a financial adviser (Black Horse Estate Agent) and the arranged the mortgage from C&G but also coerced me in to taking PPI by convincing me that the mortgage would not be awardeded without it.

Acting as the agent, a PPI insurance was put in place with Bradford and Bingley.

My question is - who would you make the PPI claim against?

Lloyds are baffled (or claim to be) and do not know where to go with it and direct me to Bradford and Bingley. But the seller and beneficiary (by way of a commission) would have been a LLoyds employee).

Lloyds give no help and have I have applied 5 times to them (letter, the ppi forms and by phone and everytime I get lost in the system) without so much as a letter confirming my application. I have now been to the ombudsmun who is writing to Llloyds but even they are not sure.

Any help would be appreciated - next step seems to be Bradford and Bingley but I think they will bat it back to the seller - Black Horse.

    What evidence do you have?

Interesting. Bradford and Bingley (who bought Black Horse Estate Agents) no longer exist. IIRC, the estate agency was a subsidiary and and as it no longer exits and is before 2005 (when regulation came in) its probable you have no-one to complain to.

No they wouldnt. Black Horse estate agents were a subsidary using the lloyds logo but that was just about where the relationship ended. Even under Bradford and Bingley ownership after Lloyds sold it, the Black Horse name was retained for a period.

It seems a lot of effort for a complaint about MPPI (which already has a much lower complaint success rate) against a seller who longer exists and as 8 years before regulation and is basically a verbal allegation by you with no evidence to support it.
