Multi-car policies - who does them?

I'm currently with Tesco for my current car but have recently bought a second car. It turns out that Tesco won't insure two cars on the same policy.

Is this normal?

Does anyone know of insurers who will insure two cars on one policy?

Also, do any of the price comparison sites allow you to add two cars and look for quotes?

Would I be better off just getting quotes for both separately even though both my wife and I will be insured on both cars?

All help appreciated.

Hi, the two most sophisticated websites for doing an online multicar quote are Admiral and Aviva.

Remember that you can only use your NCD on one car at a time.

Do you both have your own NCD earned within the last two years.

This year I managed to get my 2.2L 4WD and 1.3L petrol runaround for a total of £320 from Aviva with a further £80 off via cashback through Quidco making net price of £240 for two cars.

With most other companies you have to ring to get prices for multicar.

If you don't have two lots of NCD some will give you a good introductory discount and others might "mirror" the NCD on the second car.

Just because its 2 cars on one policy doesnt mean it will be cheaper than 2 separate policies.

If one of you crash you may lose both sets of no claims if you have 2 sets.

With 2 separate policies and one crash you could remove that persons name from your policy if the quotes get silly.

I got a multi car quote from Aviva, but found that it was cheaper to insure each car separately and claim £80 cashback for each one.

Hi, yes, I nearly tried that but taking into account the multicar discount the difference was only £20 ( I could possibly have got the extra £80 cashback but lost the £60 multicar discount ) so I weighed up the risk of them not paying out the 2nd £80 and decided that for the sake of £20 it wasn't worth the risk.
