@chris1973 When I worked for HDNL they sold 2 services which were next day or 3 day. There were and still are loads of other parcel carriers offering all sorts of enhanced delivery options which of course are charged at a premium. Do you think the big players in the on line market (Amazon etc ) don't research what their options are ?
I know if I am buying a item off the internet I look for the total price including delivery and would not normally want to pay £10 extra for delivery. Some companies offer free delivery but there is no free in the real world. Low cost = High volume was the HDNL business model when I worked for them and plenty bought into it when I worked for them making them the largest operator in their field.
Night time deliveries are all very well but not really suited to high volume low cost deliveries which is the bottom line for most people ( especially on a money savers forum0 -
Probably better to have a pop at your management for not being ahead of the game and changing with the times, rather than criticising those who have the audacity to have a Full time Job.
I finished working in the parcel industry over 2 years ago. The managements job is offer their clients the service they ask for at a competitive price. The multi drop parcel companies clients are people like Amazon, Argos etc. When I was deciding to stay or take voluntary redundancy my manager told us the clients want cheaper deliveries not better and thats the way the market is going. I am just telling it like it is.0 -
I wouldn't work for Yodel! We had problems getting a delivery before Christmas through Yodel, so upon calling their customer call centre we were given the delivery drivers PERSONAL phone number without even asking for it. Of course, I didn't know it was a personal number at the time but I soon found out when I was talking to the driver's wife while they were having their dinner.0
