Lovefilm is run by Amazon, who is renowned for impeccable customer service.I have never come across anyone personally or in forums, who were troubled with missed disks or scratched discs.

That's something else that I should have mentioned in my post above ... I contacted their customer service a week or so ago and found them to be excellent.

I was a bit concerned that a significant number on my rental list were annotated as Short Wait or Long Wait, but that suddenly seemed to change about a week ago so that now there's just a small number of Short Waits ... but that's it.

I've used lovefilm and netflix I like netflix better more choice. After you cancel from love film still get hassle keeps posting me letters asking me to join again.Netflix hasn't bothered me after cancelling. The only place that have scratched discs is blockbusters.
  • Obviously, i've had very different experiences with LOVEFILM than those described above. Their selection is amazing of course but I find they don't send items out immediately and delay them by a couple of days (blaming the post, of course) so an 'unlimited' package in which you could potentially watch two or three films a week turns out to be one where you end up with two or three a month. What is the point of paying for an unlimited package when it's not really unlimited and just the same as a cheaper one? I've cancelled my account twice due to this sneaky trick.

Does anyone use pay as you go dvd rental, like lovefilm

(hope it's not a sneaky referral link, I found it on google....)

EDIT: the link doesn't work, and the online help told me you can use it only if you already have an account (maybe a top up, they didn't reply to my questions).

does anyone know any other pay as you go service?

I've used Lovefilm on and off for perhaps 5 years now, and have nothing but praise for them.
Until quite recently I was on the 4 discs a month (2 at a time) package, but have now switched to "unlimited 1 at a time", which was actually cheaper. As long as you are prompt with watching and returning, you can easily get 5 or 6 in a month.
Because it's fun to have money!

Blockbuster do games. No idea if the service is good (that what I'm here to find out :) ).

    EDIT: Just noticed the date!
  • A friend has asked for a subscription to a DVD rental service as a Christmas gift. They want to be able to get 3D Blu-Ray discs. It seems lovefilm can do this, but am I able to pay for a year's subscription in advance? Would I be able to haggle a good deal if they do?

    Cheers
