Re the Blockbuster 2 free weeks rental deal - it's not just for new customers. If you haven't been there for a while you may get posted a leaflet with a barcode allowing you to make use of the offer.Everybody dies, but not everyone truly lives0

Hey guys ,
i currently work at a local blockbuster and just wanted to update you with current offers so no confusion etc
* if your a new member and you sign up you get 14 days free trail - excluses 3.50 rentals / games and boxsets
* if your an lapsed member you get the 14 day free trail and that INCLUDES 3.50 rentals , you will recieve letters or phone calls offering you this .
* we currently are doing 4 for 10 again for a short period of time
* we also do passes where you can prepay for amount of rentals - ask instore for more details but its defo worth doing if you rent alot esp blu rays ! .
also the latest thing we do is if you rent a new release online you can drop it off instore and swap it for a 99p rental for freeother terms and conditions apply but do check the blockbuster site if unsure !
hope this helps guys0 -
I rent my dvds from the local library for one pound and 2 pound and can keep them for 7 days.0

I just availed a voucher which makes the free trial to 30 days and get a £15 marketplace voucher once you start paying after the trial period.
I liked the option to watch a movie while my local shop posts the online disc back and awaiting the replacementI'm yet to do this and our local shop manager said rentals upto £1.49 are free and higher ones go half price.(the catch=we have to watch the movie the same night as we hand over the online disc to store, or delay the store drop to the day when you really have time to watch another movie:o . Don't know whether it works out any better.)
Can the marketplace voucher be used to get rentals from the store or it could be used only for dvd/game purchases?0 -
I wonder if DVD rentals by post are a good idea?
(a) Turn around time between sending back and receiving another?
(b) Availability of popular titles??
(c) Condition of discs???
(d) Missing discs incoming / outgoing issues ????
(e) Maintaining a flow of discs????? (potential hiccups as above)0 -

I have used Lovefilm, Tesco and Blockbuster in the past, and have had excellent experience.
Best tariff would be 2 at a time unlimited.Send the disc back one at a time and you can maintain a good flow like one movie every 2-3 days. If you watch daily, probably go for 3 at a time unlimited.
Never had "lost in post" situation and AFAIK, they wouldn't bother unless its very frequent.
Only 1 faulty disc to date, and as soon as you report it online, they send the replacement, even before the faulty one reaches them.
Availability of new & popular titles at a flat tariff is the biggest advantage. But blockbuster wouldn't lend you recent releases when you are on free trial.
Overall I had better experience with Lovefilm.
I just rejoined blockbuster to try their new instore exchange. If its not worth, I would go back to Lovefilm, which has online streaming for same tariff, which blockbuster doesn't provide.0 -

I recently joined LoveFilm and have nothing but extreme praise.
It started with my son requesting that I subscribe to Netflix, which we did and the selection available was so incredibly limited that I cancelled it within the trial period.
Hence I was especially reluctant when he asked me to subscribe to LoveFilm for the trial period, and although I did, I said it would be for online viewing only and indeed didn't order any DVD for 2 weeks. As well as the inherent risk of titles going missing or arriving scratched, I didn't want the hassle of having to post stuff back which I envisaged would mean trips to the post office ... However, it couldn't be easier as they only send the actual disc (not the case) and you reuse the envelope and postage is paid.
What has especially impressed me is:
- the range of titles on offer; pretty much everything I'd want
- the speed of the turnaround - all postage is first class and they dispatch them the same day they receive the previous set ... so if I post discs back on a Wednesday I'll get the next set on Friday.
No issues as yet with scratched or missing discs.0 -
I have used Lidl, Blockbuster and LoveFilm. LoveFilm are the best.
I have two disks unlimited.
LoveFilm have a great selection. They are very prompt at sending replacements. No quibble replacement when I had a damaged disk. You can take a holiday from rental or for longer break, cancelation is easy."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

I have used Lidl, Blockbuster and LoveFilm. LoveFilm are the best.
I second it.
Blockbuster says they have more titles as they have exclusivity to UNIVERSAL studios....etc...etc..., but practically, I have felt Lovefilm have more choices(at least for my taste).
Lovefilm is run by Amazon, who is renowned for impeccable customer service.I have never come across anyone personally or in forums, who were troubled with missed disks or scratched discs.0
