the daily unarranged overdraft fee is £5 per day for every day you are in an authorised overdraft.0

1. Try applying for a Cashplus Mastercard - I managed to get one when I went bankrupt a couple of years ago- RBS literally pushed me into Bankruptcy with their fees. Their system allows you to have benefits or income put straight into your account.
2. My daughter is in the same boat. She is on DLA and was a member of Alliance and leceister with a simple Basic Bank Account, Santander took over and caused chaos. They have changed the type of account she has with out us asking. They also kept sending pin numbers for internet access. They refuse to speak to me as her mother and carerand often threaten to close her account. This is exactly what we want them to to and asked them to do so in May last year when she opened an account with me at LLoyds. They told lloyds they could not close the account because she was overdrawn. At the time we could not get anypaper statements as they would not speak to me even if my daughter told theem to discuss things with me within that same phonecall. We could not get into her internet banking either. Then I went to Citizens Advice They wrote to Santander in August (I think) and santander finally came back and sent the statements in November. I have to write to their complaint dept. AND will definitely take it up with the Financial Ombudsman. I came on to see if their were any notes about writing to banks.0 -
I had the same problem with santander, I had an overdraft charge last August and since then every month I would be fined at least £100, and every time I paid in I would get new charges thus always leaving my account with a negative balance. I spoke to a bank employee who told me that they charge you £5 for everyday your account is on minus plus they have monthly overdraft charges. I ended up paying more that £1000 in fines and the only way I resolved this issue was by filing a complaint and asking for my account to be closed. They cancelled my pending charges, refund me £100 and closed my account the same month. I suggest that you file a complaint otherwise they will just string you along and fine you every month.
I hope this helped.0
