How does the bank know that it is the son?
IMO they would not let OP know this information.
I feel we haven't had the full story here?0 -

It is the bank's decision whether they wish to tell the Police formally and directly of their suspicions, provide evidence and request an investigation. I read that if they do it, they will do it via a single number in London which has as many cobwebs on it as the Carlsberg complaints line.
I can only say what the procedure would be if i was investigating this case. Different banks will have different procedures.
I don't know what you've read, or where you read it, but we speak to Police officers from all over the UK on a daily basis, we call them, they call us. There is no central number that we call, we call individual investigating officers personally to discuss these cases, and they call us.
If we have evidence of family involvement, we ask the customer to report it to the Police before we will look at refunding the money.0 -

The bank may have documents showing names and delivery addresses, it's perfectly normal for a bank to give their customer this information. I don't think we've had the full story either.0
