mouse

My mouse has started behaving erratically, when on some sites it just starts to go off in a tangent and jumps about( the pointer that is :rotfl: ) all over the place, anyone any idea what the problem might be?

Thanks.

If its an old mouse with a roller ball these can pick up dirt and the mouse will behave erratically. You need to take the ball out and scrape the dirt of the rollers inside.

What mouse is it then? e.g. If it's a driver issue, need to know what it uses.

Are there any hairs in the optics?
  • If it's an optical mouse you might try using a different plain surface as a design or damaged surface might be screwing up the tracking of some devices.

I had that problem and have just flipped my mousemat and use the black surface instead - worked a treat and cost nothing ;)

If it's wireless then move the recieve to a few different positions. It is not supposed to be near anything metallic and sent my mouse crazy as I had placed the receiver near the monitor. It is still near the monitor but in a different place and somehow this solved my problem.
