Going nuts over electricity bill

Moved into a rented flat just before christmas and have had our first bill through from E.On - don't understand it at all! First bit makes sense - looks like we owe them about £55. But then what are the 'withdrawn charges' - and how does the total end up at £151?! Please help!

There is an E.On rep who is quite active here - hopefully they will advise you.

The only thing I can suggest is the previous renter owes E.On the outstanding balance - it would seem to me that your bill is £55ish. As you have the readings I'd give them a call and ask for an explanation.

    Hi catherinelucy

This sounds a bit odd. Withdrawn charges are usually where we've re-billed an account. This is often because we've received actual meter readings and have used these to replace estimates.

However, as this is your first bill, there should be nothing to withdraw.

Did you contact us when you first moved in to advise us of a change of responsibility and give us meter readings at the time?

If you did, the account for the previous tenant will have been closed to these readings and a new account opened in your name from the same readings.

The first bill should start from these readings and bill through to the reading on 2 February.

Let me know if you would like me to look at this for you. Just drop an email to the address in my Profile and I'll gladly take a look.

  • Take a look at this Firm EBIco they are a not for profit energy supplier.
You used 326Kwh in total of electricity.
In the Yorshire Area the cost from EBIco would have been 14.333p per Kwh inc VAT. your bill would been £46.72 total with many option to pay. If it works for you please pass it on.
