Put simply, what are the alternatives? @ £135 per cube (+vat) it's starting to look ridiculously overpriced

In my experience its not what the concrete costs solely as a material, but that it allows a different placement methodology that ultimately saves you money. Its what it saves you in total for material, placement and finishing thats worth remembering. Concretes got to be fully compacted to reach its full strength, as the Agilia is self compacting you're saving on any vibrating tamp bar hire. When you're placing it, the Agilias fluidity really assists feweer people to push the material into place, then theres the finishing of the slab. For a slab of that size Agilia is finished typically to SR2 tolerance within 20 minutes or so after the truck leaves. No need to Powerfloat, how much plant hire and additional labour is that all worth? Guess thats why they sell so much of it... because it saves people money?0

The way my figures stack up is
162 incl vat per cube Agilia *7 = £1134
Labour (your going to have to pay someone or allow for yourself for a minimum of half a day) £60
=1194
Powerfloated mix concrete @ 87.60 inc *7 =£613.20
Powerfloat and tamp hire £100
2 Days Labour £240
=£953.20
I just think i'm struggling with the weather re the powerfloat mix. I have since found Hanson do a similar product.0 -
isnt the labour allowance too low on the standard concrete, you'd need more than 1 man, more like 3 men0

I think you would need more people Oz and you might upset the neighbours powerfloating into the small hours...in sub zero temperatures....the finish could be ropey if you try and come back in the morning too. You might loose the slab. With the Agilia you'll be finished 20 mins or so after the truck leaves. (Just don't forget to protect what ever concrete you lay from the frost)..0
