Repainting kitchen tiles

Hi, I painted the kitchen tiles about 8 years ago and they have looked good. They need doing again as there are quite a few chips. Do I need to take the old paint off before repainting? If so how would I go about it. Or would it be ok to just paint over the top. Many thanks.
