Tesco Late Payment Fee Charges

in Credit cards
Hi,
I'm after some help.
In November my tesco credit card bill was high so did a balance transfer to a 0% card for part of the balance. I normally pay off the full amount by direct debit, so put in a request to change to the minimum payment.
They confirmed they had changed this and when I got my December statement the payment date was showing as the 11th Jan for the minimum payment. I had not requested a date change. On the 6th Jan (when my monthly payments had previously been paid) I was charged a late payment fee.
I haven't challenged this yet.
My Jan statement was still set up for the minimum payment stating the minimum was due on the 11th (I even had an email reminder yesterday saying my payment was due in 6 days), so I paid the rest about 10 days ago, just leaving the minimum payment to be taken on the 11th. I have checked online tonight and they have again charged me a late payment fee.
If I contact them will I have any chance of getting these charges back as the statement clearly states my payment is due on the 11th.
Sorry if this is a bit long.
Thanks
SM

I don't see why not, they seem to have made the mistake after all. Normally they'll refund at least one charge if you make the mistake yourself.0

You ring them up and ask them to explain why the payment date differs from what you expected.
Most likely you've misunderstood payment due date and direct debit collection date. Not always the same. Have you actually made payments in November, December and January?
You then ask them nicely to reimburse the fee and not report the late payment on your credit file.
In a month or two you then check your credit file.0 -
Thanks for your replies, I'll give them a call and see what they say.
opinions4u I have double checked the statements and the payment due date and DD date are both the 11th.
Each month either by the balance transfer, d/d or debit card payment the full balance has been cleared so payments have continued to be made.
For some reason my minimum payment is set at £200 which is more than half the balance most months, which is not normally an issue as the full balance is paid, but I will ask them why it is set at that amount and not £10 or 2% when I call them0 -

I'm not sure if they do this deliberately but I get the impression after I set up/ increased my DD for my CC with them on 10/1/12 and the CSA confirmed the new DD will be effective from the next statement (in my case mid January 2012) onwards. It even stated at the bottom of my statement that the DD will take the full balance. Still it wasn't taken on the due date and Tesco claimed when I realised this now, my nominated bank had declined the payment - so I waisted time contacting my bank, knowing I was in credit at the time the payment should have been taken, and according to my bank Tesco/Tesco's CSA has never set up the DD in the first place, however they charged me a late payment fee, a lady from Tesco's customer service centre even had the guts to claim I should have made the payment manually at the due date at the end of Jan/12 which to my understanding and reading of the note on my CC mid-January statement is a complete cover-up of their technical fault - or may be it isn't and they are actually starting to make money by unlawful late payment fee charges rather than providing a better service!
CUSTOMERS SHOULD TAKE COMPARABLE ACTION AND CLAIM EXPENSES OF TIME & MONEY AGAINST THEIR BANKS/CC-PROVIDERS/LENDERS FOR WASTED TIME/NUMEROUS CALLS FOR ERRORS THE BANKS/CC-PROVIDER IS/ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR!!
IN REALITY CUSTOMERS ARE PUNISHED WITH ASTRONOMICAL LATE PAYMENT AND OTHER FEES IF THEY MAKE AN ERROR WHEREAS THE BANKS/ CC-PROVIDERS TRY TO BAIL OUT & NOT TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR MISTAKES! :mad:0 -
I did just this, i have a dispute with an unknown charge on my Tesco credit card, having tried for days on the phone i wrote on the 1.02.12, listing my expenses and asking for £10.00 to cover them. I had a letter from them dated 30.01.12 received on the 3.02.12 with 2 forms to fill in! No acknowledgement of my letter and obviously back dated, as without my letter there was no way they knew I was complaining.0
