Its funny you should say this. I called Cahoot Customer Services yesterday and said Hi My name is Mrs Jenkins and I have a query with my account. They knew eactly who I was without me having to give them any account details. Am I their only customer? Or maybe I'm the only Mrs Jenkins on their records. I thought then that maybe my account details were brought up the minute my phone number registered with them. Is that possible do you think?

It's called CTI - or computer telephony integration. It knows your number so can bring up your records before your call is even answered. It also knows which number you dialled, so the person at the other end can (for example) pretend to be Virgin Mobile or T-Mobile or whoever depending on which number you dialled.

Sometimes they get it wrong and that can be amusing.
