word to the wise re MBNA

Have heard via a another site - that if you call MBNA they automatically record the number you are calling from and subsequently use that number to try and contact you....and we all know that MBNA are the worst for harrassing debtors even when they have agreed to a payment plan  .....any way this could be embarassing if you use a quite space at work/friends house to call them etc etc

therefore always dial 141 before calling them ,, and any other company i guess

hope this helps

Not heard of this (and I work there:A ) only numbers I know that they use are ones that you give them, so if you choose to give them your work number on your application, they WILL attempt to contact you there if problems arise
No Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.

Its funny you should say this. I called Cahoot Customer Services yesterday and said Hi My name is Mrs Jenkins and I have a query with my account. They knew eactly who I was without me having to give them any account details. Am I their only customer? Or maybe I'm the only Mrs Jenkins on their records. I thought then that maybe my account details were brought up the minute my phone number registered with them. Is that possible do you think?

Saintly, honestly cant say why your having problems .... most calls go through to Chester (to best of my knowledge) I know we have call centres in India, but these are Outbound rather than Inbound calls.

However having said this, they do employ a broad spectrum of people - I have had difficulty in getting past some peoples accents when stood in front of me

  • I'm currently on a DMP with CCCS and I have 2 debts with MBNA. I got a letter from them yesterday about the arrears on my accounts, called them this evening, explained the situation and the lady I spoke to was actually very nice.
I've just increased my monthly payment to CCCS but didn't know how much extra MBNA would be receiving. "Don't worry" says the MBNA lady, "I'll give them a call, find out and ring you back in 20 minutes". 10 minutes later, she rang me back with the details and set my payment arrangement for the next 12 months.

Why can't they all be that nice???

I believe it is posible to recognise accounts if you have registered your number with them, HOWEVER, this should not exclude them from asking security questions to ensure they are talking to the account holder
