Can I Claim For PPI if my cards were cancelled in 2002?

I was just thinking today if PPI could be claimed back from all those stores I was sold it from at the till without a proper full explanation. I got really excited when I saw I had all the details of the accounts still then I noticed that I cancelled them all in 2002. Im gutted. Is it too late now, do you think?:(
