Annual management fee 1% - expensive.0

Those charges may not look high but they are. 1% AMC for a tracker is pretty terrible, plus if you went all in you wouldn't get much diversification across different geographical areas or into fixed income bonds.
A better bet if you're interested in tracker funds is an ISA that can give you access to HSBC's range of trackers (only 0.25% AMC) or even Vanguard's (typically 0.2-ish% AMC). Look into Hargreaves Lansdown, Interactive Investor, or Alliance Savings Trust to start with, but make sure you shop around. Some of the charging structures aren't directly comparable so it can take some calculating to work out who will give you the best deal.0 -
Hargreaves Lansdown used to be good for HSBC trackers, but they now charge a platform fee. There are several alternatives that don't (currently) charge a fee, but also don't have a purchase fee, such as Fidelity or BestInvest.
Or you could buy directly from HSBC. (For managed funds, going direct is usually a bad idea since you have to pay the full initial and annual charges, but for HSBC and perhaps other trackers I think it's okay.) But if you might want to diversify in the future, this could be limiting.
See also https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3153942 though it focuses on rebates for annual charges which don't really apply to trackers.0 -
Virgin ISA (and stakeholder pension) are just about the worst value plans going.
Good brand image but damned expensive and low quality.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. Quidco are offering £75 quid if you put £100 a month for 6 months into a virgin ftse tracker isa. Surely that makes it worth while as you can always transfer out after.Proud to be a moneysaver! :cool:0

If you can be bothered for £75 and making sure you do get out ASAP then yes.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. Please be careful with this. It hasn't tracked for me and my friend and after 1 year is still unpaid. Mine is 7 months and waiting for the cashback to be paid and I will immediately move it somewhere.0 -
Probably one of the best for trackers at the moment is Fidelity Fundsnetwork via Cavendish Online.
Hargreaves Lansdown are good but the £2 per month per fund charge for trackers makes them expensive for small fund holdings.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0
