Thanks ladies. I actually started that about a month ago and managed to paint the uniforms upside down, at which point I got annoyed and gave up. Decided to try again tonight and think about it a bit more this time :)

    Child is happy anyway.
  • Well done. They're great!

Anyway my question is where do you all buy your supplies from? I'm after CND Cuticle Eraser, a curette, nail art brushes, etc but can't seem to find them anywhere. I don't know whether I trust eBay as wouldn't know how to tell if a product was fake and a lot of UK sites require you to prove you're certified.
I get my supplies from the pro shop but a few pointers...

Mehaz tools are a personal favourite - they have a curette, for £23.28 (inc postage) on amazon, or a curette and pushie for £27.49

Alternatively, you could look on michelleporterbeautyproducts.com. Their curette is around £3.50 - however the postage is £5.99 and they are OOS atm.

Re cuticle remover - if you're planning to use it as part of a moisture pack, then the eraser is the one you want. If you want to use it with your curette then the cuticle away is the one you need - you only put a teeny, tiny bit on each nail and gently rub over the nail with your curette, removing all of the tissue. Once you've done this you MUST wash your hands with soap and water, ensuring that you rub the soap right into the cuticle area to deactivate the active ingredients. Best prices will probably be on amazon, but you may want to double check if you can - a quick google should sort you out.

With regards to the brushes, then I think you're safe enough to buy on ebay - most nail art bits are fine to not have a brand name :)

Help! I have a broken thumb nail, and its quite low as well. Im currently sat with superglue and a lump of teabag on my thumb, can anyone tell me if this really works please because it looks a bit odd at present!
    That was quite genius :D

In the salon, we tend to use gauze with the glue (or I can cap it with a bit of acrylic, obviously) but the tea bag is a pretty good sub! :T

    Loving the nails, btw!

Finally got around to uploading my pics. I did two as I almost always start the week with plain nails then add to them.

So this first pic is just plain Revlon Ruby ribon - A Matt effect red.

This is two days later when - altogether bored with it - I added Kleancolor Holographic in Scarlet. I liked this very much but a big chip broke off my glued together left middle finger the next day :(

They are in the flickr group here if you want a better look:

Even with my rather shaky hands this worked for me - thanks to whoever on here told ma about it!

My middle left finger was split from both sides and above the white (I think I must have stabbed the nail against something hard). I did (with some assistance from OH or I knew I'd end up with my hands stuck together) a bit of tea bag and superglue on both sides and tucked it under. I didn't probably buff enough as it looked a bit lumpy but it was sooooo much better than the pain I knew I'd have if I ripped off at the split!

Maybe use tweezers, or an orangewood stick next time?

That'd help you with the placement and would make sure you don't glue your hands together :D

You're a star thank you! I've got Sally Hansen's cuticle remover to use with a curette when it's needed but wanted the eraser to use daily with my solar oil, so sounds like that is the right one i'm after - better go have a look a look on Amazon and eBay. My poor bank account has taken a real hit with nail stuff this month :D x

But its so much more fun to torture OH and make him join in;)

No to be honest I am a bit of a clutz so would probably end up with the implements glued to my nails AND my hands glued to each other.
Even with assistance I nearly managed to get the thumbnail of the other hand stuck under the repair trying to tuck the edge of the teabag under the edge of the nail.
