when is a pan drawer not a pan drawer?

Hi All

I have an IT kitchen on order with B&Q (yes I know they are rubbish but we had £2k of gift vouchers). I want pan drawers, I ask the designers for pan drawers and each time I met with them they inserted 600m standard drawers instead (they looked nicer apparently). Anyhow I need to know if these drawers are suitable for pans or not. I have fairly heavy stainless steel pans and am a bit concerned that the 600mm wont take the weight.

The store havent been able to help so am hoping there is someone out there with some advice!

Thanks

If the 600mm won't tale the weight, then an 800mm (or 1000mm for that matter) definitely wouldn't as you have a larger, non-supported area in the base of the drawer.

As long as they are solid drawer bases, you'll be fine...
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

As Meepster said the weight shoukd not be an issue. I would however question how usable 600mm drawers are for pans. I have an 800mm set and get 12 pans including large stock pots and saute pans as well as frying pans in them. The only pans stacked are 2 frying pans with a milk pan inside the rest are all separate.

Thanks for the advice! I dont have 12 pans, only 8 including a rarely used stockpot. I only want to put the most used ones in one of the drawers, and perhaps plates in the other.

I went to B&Q yesterday and there is definitley a difference in the runners at the side on the 600mm standard drawer and the 800mm pan drawer. I have been investigating on the web and I may invest in Blum pan drawers and runners and use those instead.

Mine are Ikea drawers and they do have additional runners at the top of the drawer to help with the weight.
