damage caused while fitting windows

When I had some windows replaced last year the fitter damaged my phone line outside the house where it passed under the existing window. He denied all knowledge of any wires but when the BT engineer came he said that is where the fault was caused. The problem was fixed and everybody went away, seemingly happy, until I got a bill for £130 a few months later!

Now I believe I am well within my rights to ask the window company to give me that £130 back - they caused the damage so they should pay for it. So far I have had no reply to my letter and proof of the fault cause I sent nearly three weeks ago. Is there anything I can do to persuade them to pay up? They are a local firm rather than a big chain so I thought they would just do the right thing, perhaps not...

Stand your ground missus, their fault, make them pay.

Send another letter, recorded, telling them that they have 7 days to pay, if not you will take legal action.

    Then sit back and wait.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
