  • Difficult to maintain this diary without the debt drawing me to it.
Received my first SMP. salary payment and it's less than I'd expected but gave me the info I need to plan our income/spends for the next 4 months while I'm on maternity.
We overspent last month from the joint account but I managed to cover the shortfall from the emergency account and have now paid it back. (Thank goodness for emergency accounts)

Savings this month will be a good one I hope particularly for the joint account because of the lack of any debt payments - less good for my own savings account. I've yet to decide on an ISA for this financial year which really isn't like me - I'm normally much better organised but the pitiful interest rates are not really incentivising me to get my backside in gear. I'll probably keep shoving it in the Coventry poppy Isa as it's no worse than any other on the market and it means I don't have to set up another payee on internet banking.

Monthly update of numbers to follow once I've transferred all the various savings over. The baby is the only one with a savings standing order, perhaps her daddy and I should take a leaf out of her book :-)

  • quick update as its been a while.....

    - no new debt taken on since last time
    - sorted all the remortgage documentation out, cutting our mortgage by £300 a month
    - added some savings, spent some then put it back

total Debt V savings is £0 vs £16,844 for September.

Back in work October on PT salary so lots of reconfiguring the budget to do
