Rant! Slientnight 5 Guarantee isn't all it seems!

I bought a Silentnight divan and pillowtop mattress for my spare room 4 years ago. It was rarely slept in until we moved house and only for the past year it has been our main bed.
Last week I noticed the mattress had kind of collapsed in one area so it has a permanent dip in the side of it. Neither myself or my partner are particularly big and even if we were I would expect a mattress of this quality to be able to withstand the weight.
I remembered that it had come with a 5 year guarantee. It seemed I would be entitled to a replacement. The only downside, I would have to pay a contibution based on the usage and towards the cost of transportation. How much would this contribution be?
80% of the cost of a new one!
A 5 year guarantee sounds fantastic until you look into it - in fact if your bed is defective in the first 2 -3 years you'll have to pay 40% of the cost for a new one, if its in the 3 - 4th year you'll have to pay 60%.
Seems crazy to me and considering the bed was hardly slept in for the first 3 years of its life I will not be buying another one from Silentnight.

That seems to be how most of the bed warranties work. Depending on the length of warranty, they take % for each year. My first bed was a Myers and at that time they offered a 12yr warranty but took 8% charge for each year.0
