Thank you everyone who replied and has offered me some useful advice. I spent all my day yesterday (tut tut) searching for part time courses and think i may have found a solution. :j
I went on a local university website and searched part time courses which brought up a foundation programme which is basically something similar to A-Levels. It is a 2 year course, would be able to study in the evening times (there is 2 3 hour sessions a week and occasional weekend class). The programme would give me enough points to get myself on to a degree course and because i am on a low income i am entitled to the fees being paid for me in full.
I decided to email the tutor and advise on my situation and he said on the face of it, i seem to be an ideal candidate and to apply for a place. !!
I am feeling happier about things now , and am hoping i am accepted on the programme. The only "niggle" is that its 2 years but hey ho. I can live with that . I now need to write a short PS to say why i would be an ideal candidate.
