PC boot up fails

Morning all,

Had an issue with my home desktop over the weekend, one day it was working fine the following day on boot up I got the message please wait for IDE scan and driver one none driver two none and then it just went back to the boot up screen and tried doing the same again.
Any ideas ?
Thanks Ade

Cheers Browntoa, I'll take a look tonight when I get home.
  • suggested elsewhere is this:
"try hitting F8 during first post screen. It should take you to a boot menu, that shows you all the devices you can boot to. What do you see? It should show all your CDROM drives and all the hard drives it finds (which may be none)." if you can see a hard drive... may need to change boot order in BIOS.
    Friendly greeting!
  • Check BIOS/SETUP (DEL, F2 or F10 normally) and make sure the drives are actually visible in the pages there as detected drives. Checking the Boot Order doesn't always 'hide' drives that are not detected so check the visibility first.

If they're not, check cabling, if the cabling is seated properly try swapping the cabling.

After that, it may be a few things that need testing.
  • One thing i came accross before is that i just have to remove the cables and put them back on again, then it worked. Sometime for some reason the cables will become loose due to the tiny vibrations inside the CPU.
