Bedroom which walls to paint with colour

We are planing to paint our bedroom and would like to use two colours.

A light green and an off white. The layout of the room is like this

s2fqzo.jpg

The bed will be against wall B.

We were thinking of painting walls A and B with the light green and C and D with the off white.

I belive the green walls may be called accent walls but can't find any examples where two walls are painted with color.

Will this work? Any pictures of what I am describing or is this a design no no?

Also do two light shades of colour work?

Any tips would be great or examples. We want the room to be nice and relaxing.

Cheers

Dave

Unusual to do 2 walls with colour. Its not really an accent wall then. Its more like half a room.

An accent is typically on a wall that you see as you anter the room so you get the full effect, rather than on a wall say behind a door wher you dont get the impact. I would do wall 'c' as an accent colour or either the alcoves or just the chimney breast on wall 'd'.

  • I disagree slightly, although valid in a room other than a bedroom. Accent walls in a bedroom work beautifully when placed just behind the bed. That would be wall B on your plan. Its best to stick to the one wall, as it makes it a feature, hence the term 'accent wall'.
    Oh well...

I would do it as above and paint the wall behind the bed (although having the door on that wall would ruin it for me personally).I don't think a bedroom is the place to have the feature staring at you while you're in bed.I always do features behind the bed.

If you really want to paint two walls I would suggest painting walls opposite each other and using it to dimension the room.If you painted two walls in green next to each other and then two in another colour next to each other I think it would give the room a very odd look and an even more odd feel -it would be disjointed and like it doesn't belong.

We have the exact same room layout with bed against b. though we havent painted (wallpapered) our feature walls are wall b (behind bed) and the chimney breast only of wall d, with the furniture in the alcoves. It does look really good even though i hate the wallpaper (purple n gold not nice). The pattern on the wallpaper probably draws more attention than painting would though.

Also bear in mind pale green and off white are going to be fairly 'cold' colours. Again got a smaller room thats apple white (off white with green) and the room feels really cold even though its not. The laminate also probably doesnt help.

Green is an earthy colour so tends to go well with rich browns.
