Depends on how big the test centre is. Maybe gains a few yards.
  • It shouldn't do really. If your mileage reading is due to trip over to the next mile then possibly just the 1 when it's being brake tested. 4 x 4's can't be tested on the rolling road so they need to be driven a short distance in order that the brake testing can be done either on a road or in a yard so if it's a 4 x 4 then possibly a couple of miles at most.

Just asking because the car I mentioned in my other thread seems to of gained 200 miles from me getting the invoice to having the mot, the test centre is in the same street as the garage.

Any idea where these miles could of come from.
  • Could someone have mis typed the original miles into system? Or did you misread it? Easy to do with some cars. If not, then ask the test centre? For it is they who record these things.

The fuel would be lower if they had taken it for a 200 mile drive
  • If your car has a constant engaged limited slip diff it will gain a couple of miles as they have to do the brake test on the road, not the rolling road because it would break the diff if they did.

Not if they topped it up after ragging it for 200 miles behind the OP's back ;)
  • When I got my car back after the last MOT the service light was on. Ragging it on the brake test must have set it off. Easy enough to reset though.

Unless they did something to make it come on in the hope that I'll turn around and come back for a service. Dodgy Crap Fit.
