    Sorry!! just seen replys, thanks for responses. I will check to see if I have all the latest updates and SP3. The reason I am installing IE is because I feel more comfortable around the broswer, layout and where things are etc' thats all. I am running a Dell D680, sorry if that was misleading.

    If it contiues to crash, try it in mode.

    Do you mean "safe mode"? Key F8 during the boot, and then reset IE back to factory settings (tools/internet options/advanced tab). Try re-installing again after this.

    If you've got sp3 installed uninstall it and then you can uninstall ie8 or 7. Then reinstall sp3 and ie8.
