Do you know about toilets? I need your help!

Does anyone sell toilets that have a china pipe bit that connects through the floor, or are they all through the wall type now? Our toilets have floor connecting pipes & I'm a bit confused about how to get around this. Our soil pipe is over the other side of the house to the bathroom, so the toilet connects under the floorboards. A toilet that went out through the wall just wouldn't work! Any ideas?
Thanks

  • Yes most toilets come in different style "traps" thats the pipe out of the rear of the toilet, so when you go to the suppliers explain to them that yours goes into the floor, take a picture if you can to help,

    Hope that helps

Sound like you have a toilet with an "S" trap the ones that you are refering to that go through the wall are "P" traps. If you get a Plastic P type toilet connector and and fit it into the pipe in the floor a toilet with a p trap should fit into it ..Failing that I have two "S" trap toilets here , one is .. Avacado and the other is white which I have just put on Monmouth Freecycle.

Would that bring the toilet out into the room more? It's a tiny room & every inch counts!
    Thanks for your help.

Am I likely to be able to buy a toilet like this from most places, or would I need to go to a specialist 'S' trap place?!
    Thanks

I replaced my "S" trap toilet With a "P" trap and it did not bring it out any further into the room as the former seem to be longer toilets ..measure yours and compare it to a new "P" type ..you can buy the toilet connectors in all sorts of offsets to suite many awkward situations..have a look in the DIY sheds warehouse to see what I mean .

I replaced a S-trap type with a seperate cistern, with a P-type close coupled. I found that I had to build a false wall about 3" thick behind the new loo as I couldn't push the soil pipe further back under the floor due to the joist position.

B&Q are a good place to look at different soil pipe adaptors.
  • You buy a horizontal,(straight out the wall pan) together with a bent,90 degree pan connector which will take it straight to the floor.
