Child Savings

I want to open a savings account for my niece, but don't necessarily want her parents involved because they are terrible with money.

Is there any way I can open a savings account somewhere, and put some savings away for her without them being able to get their hands on it? Most banks need a birth certificate or something to open an account, but I can't get my hands on it without telling them.

Thanks.

You will have a problem with the R85.

Yes. Try your local credit union. They don't even run credit checks ^_^. You will need some ID for her...or you can put it in your own name and give her access as a second holder. Ask them and they'll accommodate you.

Find your local credit union by just typing your location into google followed by "Credit Union".

It's a social enterprise and non-profit, but just as secure as every other highstreet bank.
