Replacing a piece of cable in the ceiling

Hi,
The plug socket for my cooker hood stopped working and after doing troubleshooting I've discovered that there's no continuity between the positive wire at the socket and a light fixing where it is connected to a junction box. (I know its the right wire as there's continuity between the negative and earth here.)
What's the best way to replace this piece of wire, its about 1m long and I don't really fancy cutting a hole in the ceiling, or emptying the upstairs room so I can lift the floor boards up ?
Thanks

It is not the wire which needs replacing, it is the whole cable. And if the hood runs from a 13A socket, then this should not be connected into a lighting circuit. It may be acceptable to run it from a lighting circuit if it is connected via a fused spur unit fused at 3A, but you would need to check.
And finally, there is no positive wire, because domestic supplies are AC.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
any plug socket should be wired into the ring main circuit, not the lighting circuit.Get some gorm.0

Then the only way is to run surface trunking from the light fitting to the cooker hood and replace socket with 3A fused connection unit.0
