BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art

Hi to all on the forum

Myself and a friend are off for a weekend in Newcastle in April, we are staying near the metro centre to cover the shopping part of the weekend.

We also want to visit a few places

BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art >

is there a bus service from or near the metro centre that would take us to or near baltic ? Any idea of cost ?

Angel of the north >
we have checked online and found " the angel 21 " bus service that runs from city centre , does anyone know how much a adult return would be ?

Many thanks in advance :T

Hundreds of buses a day from the Metro Centre into Newcastle. 2 or 3 pounds.

Baltic centre is walkable from the town centre, or you can get a Quaylink down to the quayside, check with the driver if they go that way, Quaylink buses go all over the place.

Bus fares are relatively inexpensive in and around Newcastle.

Baltic Centre, you go to the top (go to the viewing platform, magnificent views of the town) and then you work your way done.

If you are going on a Monday, down on the Quayside the Slug and Lettuce is half price. Sign up to their newsletter and you get special offers for other days, My last one was £10 off a £20 spend.

When you come out of the Baltic Centre, go up the bank to the Sage you can walk through it and then towards the Redhough bridge which brings you back on to the quayside further up.

Dont forget to look above eye level where ever you go, the architecture in Newcastle is fabulous.

All museums and art galleries are free in Newcastle, the Discovery museum is particularly good as is the Laing Art Gallery.

    Have fun.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

we will pay attention for the buses , we went last year and didnt even scratch the surface of the things we wanted to see, and we were using taxis to get into town ( not very money saving ) . Being a bit more money aware this year.

    Thanks for your advice :T

There is also a wetherspoons at the bottom end of the Central Station (opposite) sign up to the website again for any discounts.

Just mind your bags and purses. No worse than anywhere else, just a reminder.
