Sat nav mats

I wouldnt trust them, you mean something like this

Get a proper mount/cradle0 -
Yes, possibly something like that. I know what you mean but it's very difficult to attach to the windscreen because of the angle and depth of the windscreen.0

I've got one of these:

and have used it in many different cars are it's never once slid off the dash.
Windscreen mounts are fine, but one problem with them is that when removed there is often a telltale ring left on the glass and even if the satnav has been taken out of the car, some hard up scrote may still smash a window just in case it's been left in the glovebox or under the seat.0 -

I have one of those and it works very well."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

I agree. I had one with a hire car for a week and found it did the job excellently - that was with a tomtom. It has the advantage of not leaving the tell-tale sat-nav mark on the windscreen"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Yes, I use a similar "beanbag" and it works perfectly. Never moves a millimetre when in use.
The same can't be said for the rubbish suction mount for my Tom Tom One though!
At least now it doesn't come crashing off the windscreen but just falls over within the confines of the beanbag!0 -
I use one too and they're great. I have never found a windscreen mount that actually stays stuck to the windscreen. Plus, I find it distracting having the TomTom on the windscreen itself anyway.
In our Astra we have an air vent mount, so the TomTom is between the driver and passenger seats, just above the radio. Unfortunately our Mondeo doesn't have suitable vents so we use a dash beanbag mount.
They have a rubbery underside which should come with backing paper you take off so it's clean to start with. It's not adhesive so won't mark the car, but grips very well. We've never had any movement from it, even when cornering/braking sharply. Perfectly safe.0
