Hello,
Very worried person here! I just made a payment from my RBS current acc to my Barclaycard but have sent the payment to a very old and now closed Barclaycard number by mistake. I am so worried I'll have lost the money and wondered if anyone could tell me what will happen? My bank have said they cant stop the payment and Barclaycard say I have to wait 24hrs until it shows up. Eeek please can someone reassure me as it was a large sum?
Thanks

No, it's not lost - Barclaycard cannot deny receiving it, and they cannot assign the payment to the old account. It can take a while to get it all sorted though, think more like 1-2 weeks...
With faster payments, the money changes hands very quickly, but the transactions still won't get posted outside banking days. If you paid it on Sunday, chances are noone at Barclaycard can really see it before Monday. Maybe not even before Wednesday (if you give time for the transaction to be cleared in their account at the end of next business day after Monday *then* adding one more day time for processing the payment.)
Can't hurt checking daily though.
After they see it, it's up to them how they can return it, maybe they return it with faster payments, or they can chose to send a cheque...Enjoy the silence...0 -
meanwhile make sure you pay the min payment to the right card before its due to avoid late fees etc0
