Hi there,
I noticed that my broadband speed had dropped to a 1/3 of its usual speed last night, but thankfully today is fine at a 946kps (1mbit connection with aol) I have read here
http://forums.pcw.co.uk/message.jspa?messageID=751110
that disconnecting and reconnecting a router can cause it to try to get a stable lower speed. I had done this a few times the day before.I wonder if any truth in this. My rotuter is a negrear wireless dg83.

It will resync, but the speed could go up as well as down.
The argument that disconnecting a router always lowers the speed would annoy modem users, because they have to disconnect and reconnect, and if it was true, their speed would just go down and down forever till it hit zero.
This may be of interest

In the post you linked to, quite a few of the posters are on the up to 8 Meg broadband connections. Disconnecting and reconnecting several times in a short space of time can be seen as instability with this product and therefore the router would possibly resync lower and could affect your download speeds.
As you are on a fixed 1 Meg connection, this wouldn't be affected in the same way. I think what you saw last night was just a blip (technical term! :rotfl: )This site has saved me a fortune :money: ...it's also cost me a fortune!
