Parking

Hi
Just wanted some advice. Got 3 parking tickets for parking in a local shop's car park. I parked 3 days in a row not having seen any signs and the letters arrived by post about a week later demanding 95GBP for each day - 285 GBP in total!! Having gone back, there are 3 small signs around but no bigger than A3 for a car park of 150 cars. I have taken advice from MSE to ignore them but a 2nd wave of letters have arrived saying they are referring it to a debt collecting agency for recovery of the money. I am not sure what to do as there is no mention of a court order which I thought may be the next stage.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated - the company is G24 Ltd
Thanks

  • Its only G24, no-one important so its quite easy to ignore them. Don't contact them or appeal, it will not win, it never does. Do not be frightened into paying by the ever increasingly threatening tone, they are toothless.

Well, you have guessed it right. Ignore all of the letters. Do not reply, do not acknowledge, do not waste time and postage on a sham appeals system. What they want is to establish contact with you so they can bully and threaten you.

The "fines" are unlawful and even in the chance-in-a-million that they took it to Court, wouldn't be awarded.

You probably will get further letters from some debt collection agency (who cannot do anything either) and possibly an official-looking letter or two from a fake solicitor.

But, if they get NO RESPONSE AT ALL they will quit wasting postage flogging a dead horse, and WILL go away.

Just to repeat the usual advice that they cannot do anything to the owner of the car, only the driver- and if you don't answer they have no means of knowing who that is as you are under NO obligation to tell them.

A complicated scam that impersonates authority.
They have no legal or lawful right to charge you a penalty.
    Ignore them.

Get ready for lots of silly letters and more fakes.
