Four flipping pages...

....of spam posts on the House Buying, Selling & Renting board this morning. All within a few minutes of each other. Literally - it's all that's on pages 2 & 3 at this point, and most of pages 1 and 4 as well.

I know there is a reactive system in place (i.e. users report as spam, forum team remove) but is there nothing more that can be done to prevent this - or at least deter spammers?

Thanks in advance :)

you are not the first to ask this question, the response from the abuse team is to keep reporting the posts.

It is no longer practical for me to report them all since the recent changes to the forum, the pages run so slowly that I tend to give up after a couple as the spambot can post them auicker than I can hit the spam button.

My own view is that we should stop reporting the spambots and allow them to swamp the boards unchecked, that way MSE towers might be forced to do something about it.

    Me too.

How about some moderator feedback on this problem?

It would be unfortunate if new posters could not start a discussion asking for help, but maybe there needs to be some kind of limit on new discussions by new posters. Or maybe Martin's lawyers could have a word with the company concerned.
